engine under tray removal

Hi Folks.
Could I ask the wise, how may bolts hold the engine under tray? what size? does it just drop when bolts removed, or is it tucked in behind another tray. L494 4.4
Just had to have oil cooler gasket replaced after leak. mechanic got most if not all from top, however ran out of time to clean bottom.
Time is one thing I have plenty of!!!
Just thought I could/ maybe give it a go. Whistle Whistle Whistle
Advice welcomed..

If you've got time to spare, try the workshop manual:

Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Off the top of my head there are ten 15mm headed bolts with captive type washers, the back centre 2 are keyhole type , so undo and remove 8, then the back 2 can be loosened but left in the subframe threads and slide the tray forward to remove. Makes it easier when refitting as you offer the tray up and slide it along then can hinge the front upwards.

Take a look at the pic below, you'll see what I mean about the back 2.

Assuming it's metal like the L320 is, a trolley jack to support it would be a good thing to have too. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Heavy gauge aluminium on the 494 & 405, makes life a bit easier!

You'll manage it in one hand, nothing like the heavy trays on the L320. There's a sound deadening pad on the back of it, so will likely be soaked in oil if you had a leak, so maybe have some brake cleaner or similar available to clean it off.
