Hi,

agree with others I would be tempted to do both sides at the same time.

Get another quote from another garage for
D bushes Question front and rear, both front lower arms, (£130 each) both rear upper arms, (£100 each) both rear tie rods, 4 wheel alignment (£100)

puncture repair spare wheel and get prop bearing checked?

BUT,

when is your MOT due/done last, just how bad are these jobs anyway are they looking for business are the jobs "going to be needed by next MOT/service time" or are they "required now"

Very latest update

Hi, more of an update guys.

By the way reading your comments and opinions and as always really appreciate these. So the garage has called me back this morning as I asked to have a complete breakdown of what advisories came out of the 50 point service check recently had done. The RRS mot is not till July so a little while yet.

Remember this is Landrover independence specialist garage with out 30 years trading experience and very good reputation in my local area. They use genuine parts apparently

Riiiight Laughing

If its using genuine parts, its not a bad price. However, a rear propshaft is £476 + VAT for a genuine part alone, so there has been a miscalculation, or a porky having been told. I'd hope the former

If its only been advised on a front arm ball joint, these can be replaced individually, without replacing the whole arm. Front lower arms should also be done in pairs, same with the front/rear track rods...

Price for the propshaft, brake pipes and ARB bushes are all in the ballpark of what I charge, for comparison Thumbs Up

Hi , that reassuring so thank you

I can’t afford it all doing at once as just over 3k but if I was to spend the £1100 on the from and rear arms as shown above in their breakdown would that be a sensible part of it done. IE I can live with corpses side step and flat spare for the short term.

Would the d bushes and prop shaft be easy enough to fit without taking all the arms off again in the near future is what I’m getting at ?

Hi,

No one likes a bill like that Shocked
I would still want both sides doing, get the arms done first with alignment,
see what happens regarding MOT for brake pipes,
ISTR you can get the prop bearing repaired (try a search)
take the side steps off Laughing
I Never put a New tyre on a wheel for a spare Shocked its a spare, if the car needs new put the best of what comes off as your spare, car tyres all good and spare is un-repairable get a part worn or even pick up another wheel and tyre it does not have to be the same size just a Matching size

best of luck deciding what to do Laughing
