P400e charging tip

Hi folks

Just my experience re charging the car and finding an optimal charge time re e-miles created.

If I charged for the " full" amount I'd get 28/30 e-miles (sometimes far less) and it would take c 2.5 hrs to charge the 13kw battery on a 7kw home charging point.

However by charging for about an hour 10 minutes I can get 20 e-miles that seem to be real e-miles not pretend e-miles where u think you have 27, blink, and suddenly you have 22..bet u know that feeling.

So I just charge for just over an hour now and happy with c 20 miles.

Also I just learnt the routine for removing the keyless feature, crikey so easy, take fob, open front driver door, tap headlight button on fob 3 tines followed by unlock button and hey presto.. to turn key less back on, do the same and hit lock button..!! Clearly I've had my head in the sand if this is common knowledge..... Rolling Eyes P400e HSE Portofino Blue and Ivory Seats.. it's like a yacht!!

Isn't this just a feature of the batteries - you can chuck a lot of charge in quite quickly (up to c.80%) but the remaining charge is much slower. Also, by running the battery from 80% down to 20% you keep the battery healthy / happy (in terms of battery chemistry). So better to just take the 80% as your new 100% and work around that. I think some car battery systems allow this a user-selectable option in order to prolong battery life - heck my phone has this option! 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
