United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

Isn't it more an issue that they are in high demand and thus are prone to being stolen? Especially as they are popular with certain types living in certain countries where the rule of law is not the impediment it is for us. Stolen to order for people in far off lands. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

To me it does not matter about demand, they are still beinf stolen, RR have to do more to stop them being stolen regardless of the reason

I'm new to the RR fold, been looking for a RRS A/B and located a new one at dealer.

Best insurance quote is £3900, I'm 51, clean licence, full NCD

Tried NFU and they are not accepting new RR clients

Any idea's?

Looks like a non - starter at the moment

One of the biggest risks for an underwriter when covering RR's is the possiblity of a theft claim - lets face it, they are often never, ever seen again after being stolen.

Insurance for an older RR could be 10% of the value of the car e.g. a £10k RR could result in a £1k premium.

Just as well for those purchasing a brand new one the persentage are less.

The "Higher Authority" at home commented "if you can afford to spend £150k+ on a car you can afford £5k to insure it". 2006 RRS 2.7 HSE.

If the high premiums are beacuse of thefts then there will become a point where it will be more cost effective (on the lower end, value wise) to delete theft cover & install some of your own security. 2006 RRS 2.7 HSE.

Good luck if you have to claim - I found them very unhelpful (to the point of being obstructive) when insured through them.

Their preferred repairers were borderline rude too. 2006 RRS 2.7 HSE.

I think the biggest concern for us owners is not only the exorbitant insurance cost but the second hand resale value of the cars that we own is going to freefall dramatically..
Even the dealer network prices for earlier second hand vehicles on their forecourt I have noticed are becoming “reasonable’ …..

Absolutely agree - the insurance prices have gone from c.£1000 to over £3000 in the space of 3/4 months. I can swallow a certain amount, but nearly £300 a month for insurance would put a lot of people off. Even after waiting 12m for their build slot and absorbing an £8k price increase. Looks like even a ghost tracker doesn’t decrease the premium much, so might not be worth the £500 installation fee. I’d be curious to see what others are getting current insurance prices for (I’m 35 with good NCD and live in Edinburgh city centre with low crime rates).

Just had a bit of a Nightmare myself trying to insure my motor. Albeit a sport Flavour Not full fat.

Been with AXA for years, three weeks before renewal they sent me letter NOT renewing any Rangerover vehicles at present due to Thefts.

After a full day on the web.. some wanting 5/6k with ridiculous excess amounts. I finally managed a policy with... Sheila's wheel's

Just shy of £1500 with a £ 1400 excess.

A huge step from last two years with Axa....£380 + 250 excess.
What a bummer.

I have no claims in almost 30 years, 65 years old, Ghost fitted, tracker fitted.
Cannot see things getting any better to be honest.

I think equal anger should be directed to the Police… not just the OEM’s who are struggling with this new criminality..
In the last ten years virtually all of the Stolen Vehicle squads around the Country have been disbanded because vehicle crime is no longer a priority with the majority of Police “services”….

This can only change when the Home Office start demanding more action.. this will only happen when people start challenging their MP’s.. in my area vehicle crime increased 975% last year! Wtf!

It must depend on where you live in the country.

My RRS 2023 £89k is only £600 a year with NFU. I'm 52 but have only just got 4 years NCB and wife is in her 40's. Regards

I would certainly consider it on anything worth less than £10k & install additional security.

But, the fault really does lie with us by being lazy &/or accepting all this keyless entry/stop/start Censored . 2006 RRS 2.7 HSE.
