ZF6 Transmission Fill Plug replaced with a 6 sided bolt

Hi Guys, I was going to do an oil change this weekend only to find that the original transmission Fill plug has been replaced with a 6 sided bolt, and what looks to be a small nick in the side of the casing. I'm assuming that whoever replaced the pan and filter previously (its now a metal one) probably had issues getting the original fill plug undone and had to use some kind of chisel or other device etc to hammer the old plug lose, and in doing so nicked the aluminium casing right where the plug goes.

I dont see any sign of leaking but i postponed the oil change to ask on here if this is a common issue and any points of view on the risk of undoing that fill plug ? (sorry i should have taken a picture, will do next weekend!)

Sounds like a lovely bodge. Shocked

I'd just get the transmission flushed - no need to touch that bolt in that case and you get all of the oil changed rather than just 40% of it as you do with a manual drain and fill. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
