Sadly it is such a sh*t design/shoddily specified part they are practically a consumable item. Had 3 replaced

Just been diagnosed with a cracked manifold too.

My local independent informed me today that he had two more in today with the same problem.

It happens. Mine went three or so years ago. Had both replaced just in case the other one was on its way too - the majority of the cost is in the labour required to strip off the top end so doing both is cheaper than doing one today, the other next year. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Hello All,

Did anyone find out the cost in the end? Sadly after three weeks of chasing faults on the wife’s RRS I now think it’s Inlet manifold(s) will be making a DIY smoke machine this weekend to check, it would be really good to know what people have been quoted as looking at the LR bulletin they say 6-13.6hrs Labour to do one or both. It will weight up if I break out the spanner’s and the degree and do it myself.

I had an estimate - to do both inlet manifolds on a TDV8 - from Avenger 4x4:

Estimate date: 27/06/2022
Amount: £1,834.42

That's after-market parts, LR parts would double the parts cost. It was basically 750 of parts, 750 of labour (10hrs).. 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S

Given how much of a job it is I doubt the complexity is that much different between V6 and V8.

Guess it’s time to make a smoke machine, then dust off the degree and break out the spanner’s.

There is a good video on YouTube of doing the job on the V6 - and it looks long and involved, but not complicated, if that makes sense.. just a lot of stuff to move out of the way before you can get to the offending articles! 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S

Poland 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Lux Fuji White

The longest part is removing everything on top and putting it all back. I the the LH manifold not too long ago on my 3.0, I think it took me four days, but I was doing it at work and getting interrupted. I know the timing belt cover had to be loosened on that side to get access, coolant had to be drained, fuel rail and injectors out, and lots of small hoses and wires to relocate. Not a terrible job, it was the first one I’ve done at the shop so it took longer figuring out what really had to go and what could stay. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory
