EGR Blank off on 2007 Question!

Hi guys - heard from many many people that fitting blanking plates to the EGR is a must do! Ive purchased the kit and was about to go ahead and follow the many guides online, until i read that it can throw up the EML light along with many others. I checked my VIN and the 10th character is a 7, does this mean it will have the errors?

Its a 2007 TDV6 2.7 RRS - even if i do get these errors, i assume it just needs a remap? What is the rough cost of this?

My next question - 50% of the guides online just fit the blanking plates and remove the EGR valves, the other 50% actually do the (what seems like) proper job and also remove the butterfly clip - how important is it removing the clip?

What is the chance of the error codes coming up? Will the car also drive fine with the lights displayed (so i can fit the kit this weekend and get a remap booked in).

I know that's tons of questions - sorry in advance haha. Thumbs Up

It's worth giving blanking ago. Fitting blanking slims seams to be the way to go these days, as an MOT tester can't tell its been messed with.

Regarding removing the butterfly. This is to get rid of a minor lumpy problem at part load.
I would leave the butterfly present for now. And see if you get the light on. You can then decide if you want to continue or reverse.
But don't forget you have left the butterfly present!

The light won't cause any drivability issues.

If you were to have a gap iid (about £500) the EGR map would cost about £200 Razz

As Andy says. My car had the butterfly removed but left the linkage in. Mine is older than yours and it still shows a fault listed when I plug my IID in. I just clear them and the car runs fine some 4 years after I’ve had it done. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

Mine is an 07 (Euro 4) and is blanked - you will still get the EMl so this will have to programmed out. I also have the butterfly removed - no issues.

So with a basic blank your EML will be back - doesn't impact driveability but the light does shine. 07MY RRS TDV6
