Could be :

Wiring in the tube to the drivers door maybe. So they start working if you hold the switch while opening the driver door while switch held to open

Or drivers master switch

Or built in relay

If you suspect wiring to the drivers door, repair is something like this:

Haven't done it myself.

Unplug drivers door from the car chassis frame
Pull the tubing back
Inspect the thick grey wires and green wires for breaks or lumps (lumps are usually breaks)

There are 2 grey/red and 2 grey/orange wires (one for left rear window, one for right)

If in doubt, you could cut the insulation off with a knief around the lump to see if the copper wire is ok inside or not

As a temporary repair you could join the wires and see if that fixes the problem.
But for a lasting fix at much as possible wire down the tube length should be replaced.

Green/brown powers right rear window
Green/blue wires power left rear window (and another for front)

The grey/yellows only prevent the rear switches from working (like the child switch)

While you are at it, check the thick black wire. This is the earth and stops everything from working and makes the door indicator do weird things
