Software update

According to LR I should be able to update my software on my 2017 RRS using the infotainment system. I have wifi enabled but the Update software option on the settings menu does not appear. I don't have a SIM installed. I'd also like Apple car play if possible. I've spoken to the local dealer who want £186 just to have a look but say that they can't promise anything and dont know if Apple car play is avaiable. Any thoughts?

Call Land Rover Customer Services direct and ask them to enable Over the Air Updates ( OTA ) for your VIN?

P.S. What version do you have now?

You need to have a minimum of 19A for OTA to work from memory, any lower and your dealer needs to do it. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

I also believe you need a SIM installed. Recommend this 24 month data SIM -

What version do you have now?

You need to be on 19A or later to have OTA.

Up until 19A updates had to be done by the dealer, after that OTA became a listed option taht you could access.

So check your version first. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

LR support have come back and said they cant help - take to retailer who want £186 just for a look! The RRS has been great for the last 4 years but every time I contact a retailer or LR support they are useless!

I have no idea how I find the software version number - I've looked thru all the settings menu and vehicle info menu.

It's in there somewhere in all settings, buti cannot remember exactly where on the old software.

Your best bet is to get a quote from the dealer to update you to the latest version, that will also bring down Carplay, etc.

It's a pity that it was not updated whilst it was in warranty.

Otherwise you will have to live with what you have got! Thumbs Up 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

If I remember, I’ll come back to this thread and tell you how to find the software version when I get back to mine in a few days. What’s happening when you put the sim in? Do you get a 3G connection? As mentioned you should just be able to connect it to your home Wi-Fi if your signal is strong enough and update from there. Otherwise it sounds like a trip to the stealers is in order.

Thanks - yes both the wi-fi is working and the SIM is too - tested using traffic reports. If a trip to the stealer will sort it and give me an update and Apple car play I'd be happy (?) to do so. What's annoying is LR advice cannot tell me if this will work nor will the stealer commit to sorting it, but want a minimum of £186 for looking, I've given LR advice the VIN surely they should know? The problem as always is getting thru to somebody with technical knowledge rather than a millennial (at best) receptionist.

I’m almost 99% sure yours will support CarPlay if it is indeed a 2017 model. Mine is a 2017, but it was supported on some 2016 models and even some 65 plate ones have it. Ask your dealer how much for the update instead of the diagnostics.

As Jim says post a pic of your screen. It might help. Smile

Attached are the screenshots of the system. The car was first registered in July 2017, it was the MD of the staelers car, which I bought at 6 months old. The reason I want an update is that when music plays from the phone after a short period it stops and nothing short of a restart will get it to play again. So Apple carplay will hopefully solve this? I generally don't use an in car SIM (I have put one in to test the system) but tether to the iPhones hotspot. This is a hit and miss affair and it takes some time for the RRS to see the phone (although it seems to see every other wifi signal in a 200m radius)

An unrelated issue is that if I have the smart key in my pocket all is well - but if i put it in the centre console recess it says Smart Key no longer in Vehicle. I've tried replacing the fob battery.

Thanks for all the interest.
