2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

Dipstick stuck

Hi

Tried to remove my oil dipstick but only comes out about 3 inches. Will twist around and move up and down, but won't come out any further. Worried if I try to force will break etc....Any thoughts on how I can remove so I can check how much oil is in the engine.
