Front Sway Bar Hydraulic mechanism

Hello all,

I recently purchased a 2006 RRS SC, my first RR...

During the test drive there was a knocking noise from the front, so it was said that the anti-roll bar bushes need replacing and that it can be done afterwards. Ok, so got the car, ordered the bushes and planned to do the work myself.

Got the car in the air and oh boy...

So the bushes looked ok from the side, the links as well. After some further review, the bar was able to move laterally (you could push it in and out of the hydraulic unit, half a centimetre). One of the 4 clips that hold the bar between the bushes has moved a bit and you can see clean metal on one side from the ACE hydraulic unit. I assume, this is not supposed to happen - the lateral movement of the bar and the give the hydraulic unit has. So, it seems that the hydraulic unit is knackered? Big Cry

Hence, I have the following queries for the community, please Bow down :
1. Should there be little lateral movement for the bar?
2. If no, what would be the best way to fix it? (Are there better aftermarket solutions, can one only replace the hydraulic unit rather than the whole set)
3. What would be the way to replace it? Looking at the bushes on the LH, I can see how one of the bolts would not come out as it goes against a drive shaft, or am I wrong?

Many thanks!
