Ghost Immobiliser App Pairing?

Has anyone had any luck pairing the Ghost-II app with the immobiliser? I've spent weeks Googling and trying different installers sequences but cant seem to nail it. In on a MY2014 L494.

Has anyone had any success?

TIA, Pete. L494 3.0L SDV6 Autobiography in Chile Red (Current)

For anyone struggling this seems to have worked.

Quote:
Ghost update: for those with the iPhone applications that have had trouble since the recent iOS 13 updates here is the process to follow to repair your Ghost with your phones. Apologies to those who have had the fault, it was nothing on our side, Apple updates messed up the Bluetooth and it seems to be back working with the latest minor iOS update.
Things to have ready:

- iOS 13.2 update has been done
- Bluetooth pairing code ready (6 digits normally on the black emergency card or in your user manual)
- Determine which version of Ghost you have (Ghost-II will have "GHOST-II" on the emergency card) if you try to pair with the wrong application this will not work
Follow these 3 steps and you should be able to get the pairing working again:
1.Clear the ghost of all phone pairings
a. Ignition on
b. Enter disarm sequence (2 flashes)
c. Accelerator down and enter disarm sequence again (indication flashing every 3 seconds)
d. Enter disarm sequence again (flashing pattern will change)
e. Wait for 3 flashes
f. Enter disarm sequence for a 4th time (2 flashes if Ghost-II, more flashes if original Ghost)
g. Ignition off
2. Delete the Ghost application, reinstall and then reboot the phone
3. Redo the pairing (have the emergency card with the 6-digit code ready)
a. Ignition on
b. Enter disarm sequence (2 flash)
c. Accelerator down and enter disarm sequence again (indication flashing every 3 seconds)
d. Open the app and go to pairing mode (Ghost-II this is the “+” button top right, for original Ghost this is “settings, pair with vehicle, next”)
e. Press the service button once
f. Wait for up to 30 seconds for the pairing box to show, enter the 6-digit code

Just remember if you have the app,,,,turn off your Bluetooth when in the house,,if you don’t they can scan it & take your car same way as not having ghost,I just put the code in every time I get in car. Andy.

I have the Ghost on my RRS Autobiography and BMW 640 Convertible but would never use the app in case I forgot to turn off yhe bluetooth. As you say they can still scan and take your car making the Ghost pointless

Didn’t even know this is a thing - presumed it would be a different protocol as its over Bluetooth and not the frequency of the key?

I've emailed them for their comments. L494 3.0L SDV6 Autobiography in Chile Red (Current)

It was Christopher Preston that told me about the Bluetooth thing & he is the ghost guru & was behind the development, when he installed mine he said make sure that Bluetooth is turned off when near the car as it can still be stolen. Andy.

Hi,

Can you tell me if there's any security issues in using the iOS app? Can it be scanned and copied the same as a key?

Many thanks,

Pete.

In order to make extreme security also be hassle free, we have created a smart-phone application that connects to your car and allows you to get in and drive without having to enter the disarm sequence. This Ghost-II allows 2 phones to be connected. All you have to do is pair your phone with your Ghost-II, leave the Autowatch Ghost-II application running in the background with Bluetooth enabled and you can drive conveniently and securely. However, remember that if you phone is in range (5m to 10m) and the application is running the Ghost-II will be disarmed.

Important notes: We are at the mercy or phone manufacturers and operating system providers (Apple and Android). We test as much as possible on as many devices as possible but a software update might change how the phone uses Bluetooth and interrupt the functions of the Ghost. This sometimes happens at the first release of a major iOS update and subsequently gets fixed as minor updates follow. Always use the app as a convenience feature and not the primary disarm method. Always remember your disarm sequence and ALWAYS have access to your emergency code.

so basically still can't use Bluetooth as your car will be disarmed on your driveway if you do and haven't turned off or forget to turn off Bluetooth when in the house. If you do, you can't use your phone with any other device at home Banging Head

Don’t forget they have to still physically get in your car to press the Start button which you can’t do via the app. I still keep my keys in a Faraday Cage so I’m happy with the risk vs's convenience. L494 3.0L SDV6 Autobiography in Chile Red (Current)

This is the reply I’ve just had from Christopher Preston who was & still is the guy who’s behind the Ghost immobiliser

Morning
Yes the problem is the app control doesn’t work due to phone updates. So until you walk far enough away your Bluetooth is still connected and your ghost is disarmed. 10 plus metres to break the connection of Bluetooth.
