Secure Tracker Pro subscription

Just wanted to let forum members know, if you didn’t already, that RRSs now only come with 12 months’ subscription to Secure Tracker Pro, unlike the 3 years when I bought my current car.

The cost of extending it to 3 years is £210, but only if you spec it as an option at the time of ordering. If you wait to get the car and then want to extend it, it’s £456!!! Even a 12 month extension (ie to 24 months total) is £285, so make sure you order it with the car, especially as more and more insurers want a tracker on these vehicles.

Both JLR and my local dealer have confirmed this is the case, so as for JLR, thieving b******s springs to mind!!😡

+1 I inadvertently put the car 🚗 into guardian mode for 24 hours and got in - within 30 secs LR were calling me to check if this was a false alert and advised where I was so it definitely works! MY2022 HSE Silver D300 in Firenze Red with black contrast roof

When mine expires, I will look for a better tracker system, the JLR tracker--all the tea leafs know where its installed and its removed within minutes of the car getting stolen.

But not in a rush, as the Ghost will prevent it getting stolen unless its picked up by a Crane hoist but then Guardian mode will at least alert me Thumbs Up

I had a tracker (Trackstar) fitted to my new BMW. Ghost installer found it in under 30 seconds. current: RRS HST P400 engine ( 2021) Hakuba silver

Indeed…. I did mention that the ghost installer found the tracker Smile

Though i needed the tracker to get theft cover, I’d agree that an independently fitted one is probably better, not cos i think it’ll do any better a job, but it will likely be cheaper than the manufacturer fitted one. current: RRS HST P400 engine ( 2021) Hakuba silver

With my tracker renewal coming up (at 5 years), I am wondering if I am better off with a 3rd party tracker with a lifetime subscription. Something like this:

https://smartrack.uk.net/smartrack-5-thatcham-s5-3/

Combined with Ghost it should offer sufficient cover to prevent all but the most determined thief. MY17 RRS 4.4d V8 Autobiography - Aintree Green (also referred to on Topix as British Racing Green)
