Northern Ireland 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 Autobiography Santorini Black
Gearbox Fault

Hi guys, I bought a 2010 RRS 3.6TDV8 Autobiography back in Jan. Only 37,000 miles.

Recently it has started to throw up an amber gearbox fault and puts itself into a limp mode state. If you restart it, it goes back to normal… until it happens again.

It’s almost like sometimes the vehicle gets confused about what gear to be in when accelerated, then panics and throws the fault up.

Occasionally there would of been a slight judder between maybe 5/6 gear. But only occasionally.

I had the gearbox flushed today and it’s still happening.

Any advice on what could be up??

Standard answer is that the gearbox error codes need to be read using a suitable code reader (not a generic one which will miss many of the codes). It could be overheating, it could have a wiring issue, there could be a clutch issue in the gearbox. THe error codes will help to pin point it. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

First step is to read the codes.

I had the exact same issue in my 2010 RRS. When accelerating hard and switching to 4/5/6, it would go into limp mode. Once car is restarted it was fine until it happened again.

It ended up being an e-clutch inside the gearbox. Cost around £1000 to get sorted if I remember correctly.
