L494 Front diff issue- what can i expect

I have been told by an indie garage (friend) that the front diff is causing the 'grinding' noise from my RRS 2015 while in gear (disappears if put in neutral). Thankfully it is under main dealer warranty but i dont want to be fobbed off with a quick fix. Anyone had this done and what should i expect from them ? is there a 'fix' or should it be a replacement of the diff ? 2015 RRS SDV6 HSE Grey
