Scandalous RR Main Dealer charges

I recently had a tyre pressure sensor fault on my RR sport (2017 33000 miles from new)I booked the vehicle into my local RR dealer I got a call back when it was in their workshop, saying they have found the fault and the sensor needs replacing at a cost of £208 I said I thought that sounded expensive but said ok carry out the repair. To my amazement they said when could they have the car as they didn’t have the part in stock so I rebooked on my arrival to pick up the car I was presented with a bill of £85 for the time it took to diagnose the fault.
When the car was having this fault completed the following week I got a text and video health check from the dealer stating my front brake pads need urgent replacing ( although I hadn’t had any warning alerts) at a cost of £1020.00 and would I like them to carry this out obviously I declined.Yesterday I got the brake pads replaced along with the sensor by a recommended garage for the price of £122.00 and they did while I waited and showed me the new pads and the part worn replaced that still had a few thousand miles left.
This is a saving of £900 why would anyone pay these scandalous prices?

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

Ah the old "your brakes are worn out/dangerous and should be changed" money-grabbing lie. It's a standard LR main dealer(*) game-play in order to make a few hundred quid for very little work.

It really ought to be taken to Trading Standards but it would need a sting type operation to get evidence of fraudulent practice.

It's stuff like this that makes long standing LR owners avoid LR main dealers. They are broadly incompetent. Avoid them like the plague.

(* no doubt other main dealers also do this too but LR are real Censored for it) 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Recently had similar…booked my G4 D3 for a service to keep the history up…as luck would have it the ignition light illuminated en route to the dealer indicating the alternator decided to end its life….
Did the service and dealer came back with a quote of £953 for replacement…I challenged that cost and they told me the part was £250….that meant they were going to charge me £700 for the labour alone…

The book time for replacing an alternator on a D3 is 0.6 hours…..

How can they justify that pricing? I did it myself in less than an hour! And the part cost me just short of £200…

They lost me as a customer that day….it’s almost fraudulent…

Unless you have a LR warranty then avoid main dealers and find a decent local independent LR specialist is the #1 advice I give to lots of people all too frequently Censored Visitor from fullfatrr.com

Unless the warranty is the original manufacturers warranty, you can still go elsewhere. LR's aftermarket warranty will deal with indies so there isn't a need to use the dealerships with that one. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
