My main concern is about the high mileage on a newer style Sport.

Yours looks good & you know how it is mechanically & if yearly serviced even though the 5k/year is not much, with regular oil changes should last for "ever". Would take her 10 years to get to 140k

I wouldn't buy an L494 with 140k miles on it unless it was a single owner vehicle and I knew the owner well and knew that he cherished it. Even then, you're in to the realms of potential big bills. A big bill would potentially be more than the vehicle is worth. Now, with your current one I assume it owes you nothing so a big bill is just that. But if you've sunk a chunk in to an unknown vehicle and then get a big bill? If you can only afford to buy a leggy one then you can't afford to run a leggy one if something big needs fixing. Unless you're buying it with "throw away" money in which case it might be worth a punt on the chance that it's a good one. For 5k miles a year, I'd probably keep what you've got. I kept my last one to 175k+ milesand the current one is on 112k and will be kept for another couple of years at least taking it to 150-160k. I'll probably look at getting in to a hybrid one at that point. I do 20k+ a year in mine, however. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

I’d stick with your current car or I think your spending money to get a new shape car, but actually with those potential parameters your car is the better car. If those voices are overwhelming to make the step across into it then it’s your choice, but not sensible money. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue. |

My only comment would be that a 5yo 130k mile car is likely to have spent a lot of time on motorways or main arterial routes, as opposed to short journeys which may not be sufficient to get the car up to working temp and thus likely to cause more wear over time.

The above is true, but it's not just engine wear you need to be concerned about. Suspension components, wheel bearings, interior leather etc. all wear with use. This includes greater likelihood of bodywork damage eg. stone chips through pounding the tarmac for a longer period of time over more miles.

I've owned a 2014 SDV6 Dynamic from new and have just hit 187K and in all this time apart form regular servicing it's only required a dynamic fluid pipe (from pump) replacing as it was very slightly misting and in Aug of this year the one valve cover developed the common cracking so I replaced both as they were a known weakness, cost me £520 all in, albeit LR MD wanted 2.5K to do the job!
