Keyless entry not working and unable to start the car.

Hi

Went to the car this morning and the doors would not open, checked the key was in the non shielded part of the pouch and it was, used the remote button to open the car but once inside the car reported it could not see the smart key.

Fortunately I was at home so got the spare key and it worked fine.

On previous RRs the car has displayed a message if the remote battery is low but nothing like that.

Any ideas please ?

Hi Ian,

Very similar thing a couple of weeks back, replaced the battery and all was OK. I also had no warning messages.

The battery is a CR2032 bought from the local CooP as I live 125 miles from a dealer? Its a bit of a faf to get the key fob cover off but it will open, for once the handbook tells you how.

Hi Tony,

Spot on mate, I had some new ones in stock so changed it and all fine now.

Suggests we need to keep a spare battery in the car.

Manual does say you should get a warning though.

Different key to mine, I found I needed a small blunt screwdriver to get mine apart.
