When driving I get Vehicle system shutdown, central locking will lock and unlock then on radio display will show vehicle system shutdown. The car will continue to drive fine however the hazards will continue to flash until the system will reboot.

I have checked an engine fault and this is P0490

I have just got the same thing! I think it’s the EGR valve WHICH THERE ARE TWO One either side of the engine

That's an EGR fault code. LR's DTC have an extra 2 digits which give more info so I'm guessing your code reader is a generic one rather than a LR-specific one.

Probably best to take it to a decent indie and get them to check it over properly. It might be something else in the emissions control system and they should all be checked for fault codes too just to be sure. Wouldn't want to spend money on a new EGR only to find it was something else, although on an older TDV6, the EGRs are probably due replacing unless they've already been done. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
