The CAN is a controller area network. It’s a network that connects many modules together for quicker and common communication. Although the camera doesn’t have a direct CAN connection, the reverse signal on the car tells the screen to switch to video. The Parking Aid receives speed signals and also broadcasts signals back for obstacles etc. As you can see in your photo, the camera is sending a corrupt signal so everything is working but the camera is corrupt. I really have no idea why both have failed together as they should bring each other down.

The CAN isn’t switching the screen to the reverse image which is corrupt. It’s as if the reverse selection isn’t being activated. Can you turn on the parking aid manually? 2012 5.0 SC AB

Have just tried pressing the parking aid button in the dash. This flashes six times and stays off - this result is the same both in Reverse and Drive (I hoped in Drive it might at least activate successfully the front sensors). There is no replacement for displacement - W O Bentley

I think that 6 flashes is a fault code. 2012 5.0 SC AB

Does the comments on page 2 of 4th Feb 2017 have any relevance?

He checked on Topix and emailed LR for me and they narrowed it down to 3 possible faults

Checked the continuity all ok
Bought a new switch panel and fitted that, fault still there. Bought a new Module and reset, all working again.

So there you go, a new Module at a cost of �128 + vat and it's all good again. “

Also there was also the feedback of 1st June 2020 on that same thread. Does this have any relevance?

“I know this an old post but I had this display shown on a car I bought. I tracked it down to a bad parking sensor on the front bumper. Apparently any faulty sensor front or back will stop the camera working. I also noticed that as my battery ran down while messing with the car with the ignition on it stopped working again although the parking warnings were still working which they weren't initially. As soon as I drove the car and got the battery charged up it started working again, so it is quite voltage sensitive.”

Finally, what can cause the corruption of the camera feed itself as shown in my photo this evening?

Not sure on the camera signal other than the camera being goosed. Wait until the bitter end before trying to replace the camera as it’s not cheap. It should still display though, even if corrupt. When you select reverse, I take it nothing happens on the screen at all. It just stays on the screen it’s been on? 2012 5.0 SC AB

In Park the dash switch will not flash at all either on its own or if pressed manually. In Reverse it flashes six times as you select R (no pressing of button required). In Drive it only flashes - six times - when you press the dash button. There is no replacement for displacement - W O Bentley

When I select reverse the "Parking Aid Alert - Camera Unavailable" briefly appears on the Home Screen (as last screen in use) and the disappears, just leaving me with the original Home Screen again. There is no replacement for displacement - W O Bentley

Do you know what the actual fault code numbers are at all? as I guess you don't have the Gap diag. tool or you would have mentioned it.

Hi Col - I'd struggle to wire a three pin plug so no code reader (I'd be dangerous with it!) However at Loughrans when they had a quick initial look with a code reader. I think the technician said the code was the image processing module. I can't say for certain if there were other codes too or not - that was the only one mentioned. There is no replacement for displacement - W O Bentley

Unfortunately there are over 40 separate codes listed for the parking sensors so difficult to tie down without actual number, when I have more time I will have a read through and see if any mention image module. I did see this one, but don't know if it is relevant at all though.
