RRS SPORT BREAK ISSUES

Hi, I bought a 69 plate RRS with URBAN modified kit and wheels. After 9k miles the breaks failed, neither Land Rover UK or URBAN are taking responsibility for these and Have requested 2.5 k to replace breaks and discs. Can anyone advise me here.

Scotland 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Buckingham Blue

When you say that the brakes have failed! What exactly do you mean?

Lots of factors are in play.

What condition were they in when you bought the car?
What does your warranty cover?
What modifications have URBAN carried out on the car?
Who did you buy it from? Ie Main dealer or elsewhere?

Big cars have big bills! Previously owned 1999 Disco 2 TD5
Disco 3 HSE TDV6 2007
Gone 2007 TDV8 RRS1 in Buckingham Blue.

How do know if the knocking at the front has been sorted?

You can hear the knocking at the rear better

Bought it from URBAN Brand new less than a year old breaks were juddering when breaking. 23 inch wheels added which Land Rover say makes the car out of warranty?? car 10k miles. Land Rover said customer excessive breaking has caused the issue as well???

Land Rover don't supply 23" wheels so your car is out of warranty even though it may be the discs that are the problem. Urban is your first port of call as they supplied the car. They should be fixing it as it must have their warranty.
I would suggest that you replace the wheels with 22" ones or you may find Land Rover reject any other warranty claims in the future even though they have nothing to do with the wheels. Something else, did you inform your insurance company the car was modified as if not, you may find yourself uninsured.

It's a bit harsh to say you'll never buy again when it's been messed up by an aftermarket "styling house".

If you bought it from Urban as a brand new vehicle then you've got your normal rights and Urban are responsible. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I would like to know what or how it failed. And I’ve never heard of excessive braking, it either brakes or it doesn’t. 2012 5.0 SC AB

Out of interest is it an HSE with the smaller brakes? On 18MY and later you couldn't spec the larger brakes on a HSE.

If so, I had two new sets of discs and pads under warranty as they kept warping causing a really bad steering judder under high speed braking. I'm a heavy braker but it really shouldn't matter on a £75k car should it lets be honest.

In the end I bit the bullet and bought a set of the new bigger Brembo's (6 pot) and it been fine since.

Its interesting to me as I am considering a set of the Urban 23" UC-1 wheels....
