Ambient lighting - L494 HSE Dynamic 2014 - installed or not

Good morning all,

New member here, looking for a little advice regarding the ambient lighting in my 2014 L494 HSE Dynamic .

I have the "extras" option on my touch screen and it shows the ambient lighting options etc but I don't seem to be getting any ambient lighting ??

I haven't driven the car in the dark yet, only bought it a few months ago, but the videos I have seen on YouTube show the lighting during the day !

Does anyone know if this feature is installed in the head unit even though the actual lighting may not be in my model?

Any advice or info would be appreciated

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike

Topix indicated my MY16 had Ambient lighting but it doesn't. Topix not 100%, You will know if you have it by looking at the home screen and scolling right where you have the 4x4 view - should be an option on there for ambient lighting if your car has it.

Afternoon Prashan,

Thanks for the info.

I do have the option and can change the colour of the lighting on the touchscreen image of my car but I don't see any lighting in the actual car?

Im guessing that I don't have the ambient lighting but can't understand why the option would be there in the head unit and that it allows me top change something that isn't in the car!!!

Very strange, I wondered if anyone else has the same issue

Thanks again mate

Mike

It’s rubbish....all it does is change the colour tone slightly at night...total waste of money ... they are mounted near the door handles and door pockets and change the light slightly but it has to be pitch dark to notice....
If you have it you’ll set it once and forget about it for ever more...

Hi Mike

Lime Farmer Chalk said its not very good.

Daytime you cannot tell.

Night time you can see change of colour in door pockets. There are 2 lights on the centre console forward facing, at the front on either side. These do next to nothing. At least if that is the case if you have piano black on dash and centre console trim.

Definitely not worth whatver they charged for it back then.

Thank you Farmer Chalk,

Ive read a few things that say its not the best, I just want to see if I have it or not.

Once it gets dark, assuming I don't have too many beers tonight, I will have a look and see

Mike

Thank you for all your advice

It is working, just checked in the dark !

As I have heard and read , it wasn't exactly a scene out of Tron but it works!!

Thanks again

Mike
