I live at the top of a long hill and noticed yesterday the car was picking up speed on the decline instead of from what i remember a steady speed controlled by engine breaking. Only noticed it yesterday and of course this morning.

RR ownership has turned me into a nervous wreck waiting for something major to go wrong

Owning a RRS is a total pleasure - that’s my experience.
What you have seen is normal. If you approach a hill in a high gear and lift off to go down it the car will not change down but accelerate at low RPM. If you brake and reduce speed the car will eventually drop down the gears, but not sequentially. If you approach the hill slowly, and therefore in a lower gear and keep your foot off the gas, the car will hold the gear you are in and provide some engine braking.
I visit the Lake District quite a lot and therefore see this often. So, approaching a steep hill I use the paddles to drop a gear or two and then keep off the gas. If I want more engine braking I use the paddles again. When you accelerate away even though you are in M (Drive) the car will revert to being automatic. If you do this while in Sport mode it won’t and will hold the last gear you selected.

Play with it it’s very good.

Mine does this when cold. I have a down hill stretch within 1/4 mile of home. When I go down it and lift off the gas it does exactky as described, but when I get to bottom (around half a mile or so) it kicks in normally. Has always done it.
