Gearbox service/ flush

Hi guys. Last couple of times out in car it struggled to find first gear, well every time I take away from a standing start.
I’m wondering if a gearbox service would cure the issue. I can’t get any info from last owner to see when or if he had one done. I think it would be good idea to change the fluids as a matter of urgency as well.
Any you guys recommend anyone. I’m just outside glasgow.
