A feeler for insurance costs

hi all im up for renewal ive never insured the car on its own it was added to last month of my current.

My question is how much you paying (if your happy to say)
Who are you with

I've had a £1850 quote as my best i sadly lost my no claims on my joint policy. This time ots just me as no Mrs now so I'm going in with no no claims so please bare in mind that's why I'm being shafted lol

Places ive tried confused and compare and go compare

Tried admiral they wanted £12,327 £3000 excess which is fair for a Bentley lol however I paid less for the car 😆

I'm 4.2 supercharged 2006

Those prices are insane compared to what I pay.

Different car and different circumstances, however.

On my 3.0 TDV6 my insurance is £394.24 with a total combined excess of £200.

35 years old, SP30 from 2016, 13 years NCB.

I use Topcashback compare. It always works out cheaper than the well known price comparison websites. Kev

Thank you buddy i will give that one a go tonight

I know it sounds daft high but its my no claims I tested one by putting more in and then removing it and it was a 950 difference so its gonna be just me this time and get some no claims under my belt then.

I don't think Direct line is in the list of insurers that money supermarket or confused.com use. Also sometimes cheaper if you have another driver (wife, mum, dad etc)

And - seeing a concurrent post here on the forum - it must be worth talking to A-Plan (site sponsors). Nothing to loose...

I assume you are getting quotes based on zero no claims.

You should be able to, depending on your full circumstances, get an introductory NCD. When I bought my Evoque, to my horror I found that because I had another car with 9+ years NCD this was not taken into account unless I spoke to insurance companies directly. I was finally offered 3 or 4 years introductory NCD based on the other insurance (apparently I can drive both vehicle concurrently). MY17 RRS 4.4d V8 Autobiography - Aintree Green (also referred to on Topix as British Racing Green)

Have you tried NFU Mutual? I changed to them this year.

They don't cover all areas but you can check your postcode on their website. Then give them a call if they do.

For a 2010 TDV8 I'm paying £476 fully comp (£410 without NCD protection) which includes roadside rescue (it is a land rover product after all Rolling with laughter ). Unlimited length trip European use cover and motor legal cover. Excess is £300.

Admittedly this is with max NCD but might be worth a call. 2010 TDV8 - current - my first RRS, loving it so far......
2005 Cayenne S - handling defied physics and what a sound, so sod the mpg!
1995 Disco TDI- surprisingly reliable, shame about the peeling dash & other trim
Lots of other non 4X4's in between times.........

After 9 years with L&V I've just gone with site sponsor A-plan.
Only reason for the leap.
Nine years without a claim, insurance gone £50 again this year without even a hint of why.
Saved approx 120 quid just for a phone call.
Becky cox, Thatchem branch dealt with my new Insurance, almost identical, apart from voluntary access.

Worth a phone call Thumbs Up

Very different depending on circumstances. I pay NFU* about £400 a year, including when the car was straight out the showroom and worth £85k. I do have full no claims, might be older than you and could live in a less risky area.

Try adding someone else on the policy, even if they will never drive it. Sometimes makes it cheaper.

* I decided their NCD protection isn’t worth it - they add about 20%. Looking at another poster above looks like that is standard. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

Another one for NFU and I'm paying almost exactly the same with declared mods and business (farming) use. I was a bit miffed that they charged me an additional £66 last year for 3pts SP50 (my only points) and they've not removed it at renewal. Lots of others don't like mods (winch/towbar/sliders) so staying with them.

Been with Aviva for a few years now. Not sure how they view an SC compared to my TDV8 but I pay £352 with max NCB (protected) and MLP. One mod registered - side steps. Robin
