Scotland 2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Santorini Black
Access mode

Hi guys, just been reading an old post regarding access mode and the suspension rising when pressing access mode, possible compressor fault or blocked filter on the compressor exhaust , my question is can I remove this filter to check or replace without codes appearing and suspension issues, 2014 sport, thanks 👍🏻

you can remove the brass filter or better still drill a hole through the centre...

I've the same problem. Would you mind letting me know if the replacement part solves the issue before I decide whether to drill a hole? Thanks

@Rainboy. Really sorry for the delayed reply. Just occurred to me I think you're the same guy on the L494 Facebook page, we got some top advice from Ian Adam.

I just drilled a hole, worked a treat, and still working..........thankfully Laughing

Thanks again pal

Over the years my RRS has done a similar thing. Sometimes (but not all the time) putting it into access mode produces a Suspension Fault warning and it stays where it is. I will still pump up to Off Road mode and back down to standard, no problem.

Just lately, when this fault occurs, I get the message that the car has sensed I have grounded out and puts it into super off-road mode (can't remember the exact wording) and tells me to reset the suspension once I am clear of the obstruction. Doesn't happen every time however.

Is this the same problem and solution as discussed here or should I be looking for something else? It going into my indie in September for a couple o other issues and so I can get the codes read then. Robin

It could be Robin. However, I had this problem and for me it was my offside front strut preventing the vehicle from lowering to access mode.

I replaced both front struts as they were worn anyway and the fault was resolved.

The best thing to do is to monitor the 4x4 screen and the height sensor data using the IID tool to conclude the issue. This may be a bit difficult if it's intermittent though! Kev

Cheers Kev

I'll get the indie to check it over when it goes in. Robin

What is the cost for a indy to change filter as mine does this now agaain.
When in auto mode and i open the door it lowers to acess mode then raises to either normal or off road height. Press the access button a few times and it does lower to acess height.

I can't speak for the filter change as, in the end, I had the whole compressor replaced (£500). The indie guys showed me the old compressor and you could see the desiccant had got through the filter and was all over the place. I don't believe its a difficult job for your indie as the compressor is quite accessible. As Rainboy says, it was a 10 minute job. Best to give your indie a ring and ask. Robin

Kitchenfitter, the filter is probably around £10 noe, when I purchased one around 2.5 years ago it was £8 delivered. This is the filter & the 3rd pic is the filter after I drilled a hole through the middle, the new filters come drilled so I’m guessing LR have had problems & started fitting them with holes down the middle.

I'm going back many, many years to my days on the factory shop floor, but that looks to me more like an 'exhaust' rather than a filter.
Usually installed to reduce noise in a pneumatic system when air has to be released.
If you are drilling a hole in it, there's not much point having it fitted at all. RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014
