Crankshaft

Hi All,
Are there any build dates or vin/engine numbers that this fault relates to?

No dates, all the 3.0 are prone to snapping,it’s luck of the draw if it happens or not.I had one snap a week after selling car,33000 miles & flrsh, warranty covered it & replaced engine. Andy.

Surely LR would have taken steps to rectify the problem in later build dates once it became known there was an issue?

The engines are Ford units. LR would presumably have had to pay Ford to redesign it etc. LR don't spend money on things
like that. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

but in 2012 (?) JLR took over the production from Ford, so the engines then became their responsibility.

but like most things these days, it's a quick buck that's important.

once you buy the vehicle, they don't care what happens --
