Changing Air Compressor on a 2010 RRS

I have the "C1A13-64 Pressure doe not decrease when venting gallery" error and have been told the air compressor needs changing. I was quoted around £800 for the job from a Land Rover specialist which I dont fancy paying as it works fine most of the time and I only get the error occasionally.

I've had a look on ebay and they are roughly £150. My local garge says he has changed a few in the past so I was thinking of just taking it to him.

Few questions. Does the 2010 have a AMK or Hitachi compressor?

Also does the the part have to be "coded in" or is it a simple switch with the new one?

Any other complications that could happen?

For £150.00 that will be a crap Chinese copy that won't last as long as it took to fit it. Pay the extra and buy a decent one.

Have a look under your car to check. My 2010 had a Hitachi and I replaced it with a Dunlop compressor as it's a straight swap.

Made in the UK and you can buy the part for £195 + VAT here: https://www.lrparts.net/lr023964-air-suspe...relay.html

30 mins to fit if everything goes well.

Don't buy a cheap unit from eBay, you will have no end of problems. Kev

Also, before going out and buying a new compressor, you may want to consider checking and servicing the exhaust valve on your compressor first Thumbs Up

You'll need to remove the plastic cover. Here's a picture of my old Hitachi, which should help you in identifying yours...

Strange really according to L/R Vin. AA000001 - BA708254 Hitachi fitted, BA708255 - CA725628 AMK fitted,
CA725269 - DA768669 reverted to Hitachi, then Vin. DA768700 on back to fitting AMK's. My car is in the range CA725269 - DA768669 and a MY13 and has the Hitachi fitted. Of course the above would not necessarily apply if the compressor has been changed previously.

AMK looks like this underneath.

Cheers

I believe LR intially changed from Hitachi to AMK because there was a sourcing issue as a direct result of the Fukushima Daiichi disaster in Japan in 2011.

However, I'm not sure why they flip-flopped at a later date. I can only assume it must have been stock issues again. Kev

Had a look today. It's a Hitachi one.

Knwatkins, the link you sent says it is only 06-09 RRS. I'm guessing it will fit on a 2010 if it worked for you though so I'll go with that one.

Fitted today and goes up and down without errors now Smile

However I have noticed it is a lot slower to raise the car now. It takes around 15-20 seconds between each stage. I saw the "Vehicle raising in progress" message after about 10 seconds which it has never done before

Well done for fitting and saving yourself a fortune. That does sound like a long time. Remember it may do this if you have raised the vehicle a few times over a short period. You need to give the compressor a bit of time to refill the air reservoir. Kev

You seem to have all the answers. That was the case as I pressed it a few times in a short period when testing. After leaving it for a few hours it works instantly now. I just need to adjust by brain to not expect to hear the error message "ding" when lowering the suspension.

Thanks for your help.
