Virtually free road tax !

I was on the road Monday parked in M5 services... chap pointed out to me that my tax was out of date, did i know... I didn't! Shocked I was convinced ANPR was going to get me then with the mileage covered.

I hadn't had a reminder (not foolproof I know) so on arrival home Monday eve I went to renew online... tax isn't due until August. Question Called DVLA to be passed around the departments and finally told to visit nearest office for a duplicate disk. So Tuesday I 'bought' 5 months tax for £7!!

I explained and protested someone else had paid this not me but to no avail - they're investigating .... so if its anyone here paying my roadtax please send the next renewal to me in August and save me another £7

I have tried to work out how this could be... I bought when 6 months old (car not me) all I can think is that a renewal notice went to previous owner and maybe it was linked to a business - someone there then took on task of renewing online... I cannot think how else someone could have or would have wanted to do this... Confused
