EBC Redstuff S/C Front Pads

Came across these the other day in OZ, not cheap but bought a set of front and rear's as spare for my RRS1 as they are no longer available, unfortunately they don't have any RRS2 rear's.

Don’t know how true it is,but the reasons they stopped making them for the RRS2 is because their was a fault with the pads breaking up. Andy.

Not sure on that one Andy, never had any problems with my RRS 1 and they have been fitted about 18 months or so, you would like to think that if EBC had problems with the pads breaking up, which In my view would be a major safety issue and would they not be obligated to do a safety re-call or something to that effect. I think I would take that with a pinch off salt until I had actualy seen something in writing from a reliable or creditable source.

Col, it appears they're no longer made for the RRS1 for the following reason (from their website):

Quote:
Redstuff ceramic brake pads, passenger car/saloon car pad NOT made for Truck or SUV fitments
 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Interesting, guess they must have had some sort of issue, have to drop them a email and ask why and see what they have to say if anything, will post their response that is of course assuming they do respond. Thumbs Up

EBC do make SUV/Truck specific pads. They do a "Truck Yellowstuff" and an "Extra Duty Light truck, Jeep and SUV". No idea why they have a specific pad type. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

It gets a bit confusing, as they only list Yellow stuff, Green stuff and Ultimax for the L320 S/C. Green stuff seem to be the low dust ones.

Would you recommend EBC Yellow Stuff for a 2012 SC? My only experience with EBC was when I used their discs and Red Stuff on a Mk 1 3.2 TT. In the end we had to take them off due to the noise and go back to OE. There is no replacement for displacement - W O Bentley

I was going to ask Chris the same question, EBC do appear to advertise a slightly heavier duty, low dust Greenstuff 7000 series specifically suited for 4x4/SUV's unfortunately the don't actualy list them for the Sport, which really doesn't help.

A little annoying about the Redstuff as have had the current set on the car for the last 18 months and they have been perfect with absolutely no noise and the only one's I found that shut up that damn squeal the Brembos suffer from, and as have to replace a couple of piston dust covers on the calipers was going to stick a new set in at the same time. Did wonder If they have stopped manufacturing them for 4x4/SUV's because they are supposed to be a high performance pad and the material is not really suited for any off road conditions as they have discontinued them for all makes of 4x4/SUV's not just L/R's. Mind you let's face it the nearest 95% of Sports get to going off road is driving across a footpath, they just sit on the drive looking clean and pretty most of the time mine included. Laughing

Cheers

I have found them to be very good and work from cold without the need for a little warmth. I haven’t noticed any noise or squealing but I never really had that issue on OEM pads either. My local indi recommended them as he used them on his Brembo fitted 90 Defender off road racer. To be honest they’re probably overkill on my car but it is nice to know that when I need to deploy the anchors, I’m getting the best I can out of this tank. 2012 5.0 SC AB

Redstuff pads, in these 6 pot Brembos, are utter Censored

I've had them fade twice, without even pushing them hard. I know its a heavy car, but I had no issue with the smaller 4 pots, nor the cheapo Bearmach pads that were in the 6 pots before it came off the road...

Yellows ordered for tomorrow Thumbs Up

Maybe that’s why they don’t sell them anymore. I’ve got yellow stuff on mine and they would stop an artic. The only down side is that they do chow down on the disc quickly. 2012 5.0 SC AB
