Hi everyone!

I have just registered on this site and now realise that this is something I should have done years ago!

I am now on my third Range Rover and this one is Green with the special edition Brown leather interior - it looks great and I love it and am not ready to part with it.

However I have a wee problem - the engine has just died on me and I am being told that a new LR replacement engine will cost me up to £12k to supply and fit and that I shouldn't risk a £3k refurbed engine.

My RRS is a 2011 with just over 100k on the clock and is probably worth about £11-12k

What is the best thing to do?

I live close to Glasgow Airport and desperately need to find a "relatively" local specialist that can sort me out at a realistic price.

I would be so grateful for any help that members could give me.

Not sure how far Dundee is from Glasgow airport but Disco_Mikey might be your man.

Sorry to hear of your bad luck. how have you confirmed that the engine is dead?

AYE, DUNDEE IS OVER 100 MILES AWAY SO TIMELY AND COSTLY TO RECOVER.

I WAS RECOVERED BY THE AA AFTER I BROKE DOWN AND WHEN I TURN THE KEY THE ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE A BAG FULL OF SPANNERS FALLING DOWN THE STAIRS - NO COMPRESSION AND DOES NOT START - I DON'T WANT TO TRY STARTING IT AGAIN FOR FEAR OF CAUSING FURTHER DAMAGE - IF THAT IS POSSIBLE!

DOES ANYONE HAVE DISCO-MICKEY'S CONTACT DETAILS SO I CAN CALL AND SEEK HIS OPINION?

Hi John sorry to hear are the car, I was fortunate enough to have a rear suspension collapse one trip to Oban in Glasgow and I found an indy very close to the Scottish Police HQ. They were very helpful and got me on the road by 1600 Hrs the next day with the fault diagnosed and fixed, bad news is I can't remember their name but will try to find it for you, regards Andy.

You have several options of LR specialist indies, closest would be Monarch Garage in Greenock ( http://www.monarchgarage.co.uk/) I have no experience of them as they are a bit far from me out near Sturling, next closest would be GEMM at Larbert who I have used a lot over the years and then there is Lix Toll Motors up at Killin who are excellent but a long hike from you. Disco Mikey is a member of thus forum so search for him. There is also a garage down in Ayr - IIRC Gibson’s but I have no experience of them but I know plenty of people on the south side of Glasgow who swear by them.

From your description of the noises from under the bonnet it sounds like you might be another crankshaft failure............. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Elite landrover in Clydebank, guy called Paul who used to work for Prestige in Paisley. He literally moved there from Dumbarton yesterday so may be in a bit of a muddle but he is very good.
