Has anyone seen anything like this? It’s smooth to the touch so has to be underneath the cover.

Looks more like damage than a crack admittedly but I’m sure I’d have noticed this when purchasing the car so am a bit flummoxed! Should I try the warranty claim?

That looks very similar to my issue, I think it gives me a good case for a warranty claim. Certainly don’t fancy it coming out of own pocket - ouch!
