Another Facelift - ?

Hi Guys,

Autocar just did an article;

https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-car...reak-model

Interesting paragraph amongst other things is this one;

"Today’s Range Rover Sport will be celebrating its seventh birthday in March, and this year it will receive a subtle makeover alongside the addition of a mild-hybrid straight-six Ingenium engine."

So they're going to give it another Facelift just after the 2018 one? Also isn't the I6 already a MHEV?

Bit confused - anyone got any info?

Thanks !! Non JLR Vehicle

it was 2013/14 in ZA

LR might be delaying the new RRS due to the high demand for the new Defender and thus they are allocating all available build capacity to the Defender?

It would make sense for LR to capitalise on their 'flagship' model now + 1-2 years and then release the RRS once demand for the Defender starts decreasing. --

Defender is going to be made in Slovakia I believe alongside the Disco 5, the RRS is made in the UK alongside the FFRR. So they have factory capacity to build both at the same time. I guess the issue might be supply of sufficient numbers of any common parts (of which there are likely to be a few). 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

For sure they won’t update the L494 in an optical signifikant Facelift until the cycle ends.
But there could be some cosmetic details and the new infotainment generation (as the current isn’t running properly) until the final change.

Don’t trust the press, it’s just mixed information wrong added together... Wink 2012 RRS HSE SDV6, BOURNVILLE 12/12-10/14

From the info I have the RRS will be updated before September and get get the new Pivi pro system from the Defender and the under bonnet camera system. Headlamps and tail lamps will be updated too as well as new colours, wheels and interior options. Watch this space Thumbs Up

It's a refresh.

I suspect they are probably looking to see how much the Defender will canabalise sales away from other JLR products.
You can see it taking over from the D5 for sure inside the next 12-24 months. If its in that price point its also going to take some sales away from RRS so they will have to re position a little to protect the brand. This year will be a critical sales year for RRS though as it may well be the last year where a full lease term for buyers is delivered on the 494. I mean nobody buys a year 1 land rover product do they ? 2012 SDV6 HSE (technically its hers)
2000 D2 TD5 - definitely mine

Bang on...the defender really ages the L494 RRS with the new tech etc so they are forced to do this otherwise they will lose sales.

To think that the Defender will take sales from RRS is a bit silly, frankly. RRS is the best selling proper 4x4 that LR make (it might even have ended last year as their best seller). I can see Defender taking sales from the Discovery, however, as that has not sold nearly so well as LR would have hoped. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Just seems weird

They started in MY14

Refreshed in MY18

Then another refresh in MY21?

Seems a bit premature no? Non JLR Vehicle

We are planning to swap our RRS for a Defender (maybe!).

We want a 90 but want to see one first. I like the always on idea of Pivi Pro a great deal. My MY16 RRS has the older infotainment which is very dated now. MY16 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography in Aleutian silver, stealth pack and toys.

It may sound silly to you sir however I have 4 friends who are as they are bored of their sports. In fact my dealer has told me that a few people going for the defender are RRS drivers.
