To those who have completed this retro fit, I am guessing the loom which is required replaces the loom going from the steering wheel back into the dashboard?
Or is it a conversion loom which sits behind the airbag?

I have just acquired a facelift AB steering wheel with switch packs so was looking at doing this myself

Many thanks

From what I see online. Just the harness behind the airbag.

It’s the loom that sits behind the air bag & connects to the paddles & switchpacks & into the connector on the clock spring. Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Thanks for that.
So is the existing pre 2018 loom modified or would the 2018 loom work if swapped over?

TBH I didn’t try a 2018 loom - surely it can’t be that easy & way way cheaper. I didn’t even try the 2017 loom Big Cry The videos I seen using the older loom was unsuccessful.

Good luck Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

This was my thoughts exactly, but can’t see it being this easy.
It’s just if it’s only the airbag loom which is modified you wouldn’t think much would need to to be altered.
Maybe a re-wire of the old loom?

Do you have any pictures of the modified loom before it was installed?

Sorry I didn’t - There are some pics on the Ebay link on the previous page - I didn’t really interrogate the loom - I’m not technical in that department Big Cry if I hadn’t got the parts for a lot cheaper than there normal price I wouldn’t have done it especially when the the wife got in it to drive & didn’t notice the new steering wheel or switchpacks Big Cry Big Cry 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

I’ll grab some some photos of my loom when my shows up this week.

Curious. Do the switch packs dim with ambient light like the air con controls ?

Judging by the pictures it looks like the loom is modified with the addition of some sort of driver unit, which I’m guessing would be additional power or signal for the facelift switch packs

I know Powerfuluk tried this on one of their You Tube videos, and I’m guessing they would of tried both looms.
So this pretty much rules out a simple swap over of looms which is a shame. Sad

Just a follow up on this. I have tried fitting the 2018> steering wheel, loom and controls to my 2016 AB
Unfortunately I had the same issue as PowerfulUk where the left had side operates correctly but the right hand side doesn’t power up.

I noticed on the 2018 loom, the wires going into the right hand side switch pack are a different configuration to the pre-facelift.
But the wire configuration coming out of the clock spring connection is identical. ( this gave me hope it would work)
So I would guess this is either a voltage or signal issue to why the r/hand switch pack doesn’t operate.

Hence the adapter loom you can purchase

I have settled for the moment with the 2018 wheel with the pre-facelift controls
I will then look into the adapter loom in due course

Just finished the install since we all have so much down time currently.

Took bout an hour and a half.

really puts my wheel to the 100 blackout level that's for sure. I went with the SVR controls as they're all black.

Carbon steering wheel from the Powerful UK gang as well as the aluminum paddle shifters form Velocity AP.

Leather airbag cover as well.

Love it so far..

Is there enough space in the steering wheel for the extra loom? --
