Dashboard and Infotainment screen brightness keeps varying

2017 MY 4.4 Autobigraphy 24k miles.

The dash screen (in front of the driver) and the Infotainment Screen has a mind of its own regarding brightness.
At night time the screens will all of a sudden go very bright which is blinding and dangerous.
Despite getting into the car at night and adjusting the the light brightness on the rotary controller and being comfortable, after a while the two main screens will jump to full brightness and the remaining knobs, buttons and steering wheel control illuminations can still be adjusted.
Usually its so bright and blinding I have to now carry a towel in readiness to throw over the screens to stop this glare.

Car has been to dealers and all recalls, software updates are up to date.
15 Minutes into the journey from the dealers and the pesky Brightness blinder jumps back full blinding power.

Anyone had similar problems??

1st photo is normal levels...

Have you tried enabling Stealth Mode?

It’s under Settings > Screensaver

I was playing around and turned this off recently and the screen became really bright at night (maybe coincidence) so I turned it back on.

I heard about Stealth Mode but couldn't find it on the screen.
The car is a MY2017 and has the later screen.

But, it has been back to the dealers twice now, and on the second visit apparently they managed to get some new software through to the controllers and all seems fine since.
The screen's lighting becomes variable and dimmer as dusk gets greater outside, then fortunately the dimmer lighting dimmer rotary controller down by the knee actually performs now.

I will look for this stealth mode later when the cars back with me.

Cheers.

I'm sorry to tell you but over multiple LR products they all have a properly wonky light sensor and work as you described.

I've had them changed in the past to no avail.

Should we call it a feature? Disco lighting?

Sometimes twisting the little knob can rejig it into adjusting again other times no. Non JLR Vehicle

Agree,

Sounds very likely.

I had to take my P400E in to Stratstones twice before they found the issue - a faulty control unit. This was replaced and all is fine now.

It's good to get this feedback as the car has just finnished warranty should the fault re-occur.
Thanks.

Does anybody’s dash screen / speed dial screen look like it’s bleeding light on the bottom half of the screen? I’m not sure whether this is normal or the screen should be the same colours all over. It’s under warranty anyway.

NO.
That doesn't seem correct. Report it under warranty and sit in another one and compare at the dealers.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Spoke to the garage and will send them a picture of the dash. Will try and sit in a similar too.
