I’m going to put this here people. Although a ff owner it seems the l494 owner’s are more into modding.
I know people on here have swapped to premium speakers and amps from the meridian range as I’ve read pretty much every post I can find on the subject.
What I can’t find is if you do swap say the 380w meridian amp for the premium meridian. Is it true you have to edit the ccf before you hear any improvement in sound? This may sound a stupid question. But! I can’t see a ccf edit making any difference to the power the amp is putting out. Surely the ccf edit is more if you want to have the surround option on the screen or something like that. If this is the case then I will go ahead with the mod and deal with the ccf stuff last.
I can’t understand how the ccf would stop an amp from producing the wattage it’s made to? Maybe someone on here can shed some light on the subject? Cheers in advance.

I think there’s more to it that just what the power output is. The CCF edit tells the FCDIM what AMP is installed so that it can talk to it. From what I’ve heard, if you don’t do the CCF edits you will get a configuration DTC and may not have all speakers working. Depending on what entertainment you have, there could be upto a dozen edits required. When I was involved in a basic to premium upgrade with famousfive on the Disco forum, it required about 15 edits and we still couldn’t identify which was needed for the FM to work correctly. 2012 5.0 SC AB

thanks. I’m not about to mess about with something I know nothing about. Swapping amps & speakers, well anything mechanical is fine. But when comes to editing stuff diagnostically and it could seriously go wrong I don’t wanna know. The ff will go up for sale in place for a better specced one
