Wales 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black
low fuel waring only below half a tank.

Hi All,
I have searched through the forum to find a similar fuel empty fault, they all appear to be about the wiring connections, my low fuel fault appears when the fuel level drops below about half way, putting more fuel in and in all is ok and the low indicator goes out so I am ruling out bad connections.
The vehicle is a 2010 RRS TDV8 3.6, Could someone tell me where the sender units are located I understand there are two, how can I determine when one is at fault.
Many thanks.

Normally the level sensors work on resistance so don’t rule out bad connections. Also, try disconnecting your battery for 20 minutes and reset everything, maybe it’s just lost calibration. 2012 5.0 SC AB

OK, it looks like I have a corroded joint some where, the sender unit came back on after doing an emergency stop then went off again when I put more fuel in. I disconnected the battery and left it for 20 mins reconnected it and the fuel gauge display worked for about 15 seconds then went to empty.
Could some please tell me the location of the sender units, I think they are under the rear seats, does this require the removal of the seats, any photos would really help.
Thanks in advance.

There is a thread on how to do this , give a search a go.
When I had mine done (too lazy to do it myself), from memory, there are actually 2 float/sender units in the fuel tank. You will have to drop the tank, best done when empty, and access them via a panel on top of the tank then remake the joints. Dirty smelly job if doing on the drive, hence why I paid for it to be done. To be on the safe side, I had new units installed as I intend to keep the car for the foreseeable future.

Google LTB00566v6 or alternatively there is a copy in "My Gallery" file No. 92 https://www.rrsport.co.uk/gallery/displayi...amp;pos=91 The senders are not under the seats, you have to lower the tank to remove them.

When I had mine done (new gen LR senders x2, seal, clip and cover plus diagnostics) the indi I use charged me for 4 hours labour. If you just wanted someone to re-do the terminals that's your ball park.
The senders were £80 and £84 each plus VAT and I guess you may not need the cover and seal if they come off OK.
