Parking sensors

So my front parking sensors started playing up, ran codes and said right hand inner sensor fault. That one requires the bumper off so thought I’d leave that one till later.
Whilst surfing YouTube I found a video claiming to fix all types of parking sensor faults, so thought I’d have a look. Okay so it was on a BMW but he said the principal worked on all sorts of other parking sensors.
So what is this magic? WD40 to displace water from the sensors! Okay I thought can’t hurt to give it a try but sceptical. Well it worked and I washed it today and got plenty of water over them and their still working so happy days and don’t have to take the bumper off yet.

Never heard of that, but it’s a good temporary find. Mine too had the inner right fail and after many code clearance it kept occasionally coming back so got it fixed. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

Thanks fir sharing.

I had one that worked when the water froze so it would probably have sorted that.

Devon, where do you spray the WD? in the front of the sensor or the back?

I saw that video and though great lets try it out. Didn't work for me Sad

Can I tell what sensor it's complaining about on my facelift model ? I know on the older ones you can hear the sensor clicking. Is there a way to get information on this from the dashboard or do you need a code reader ?

Spray straight onto the front of the sensor and wipe off the excess, mine are still behaving. Steve

I’m not getting the parking sensor error message but my front sensors aren’t as sensitive as they should be, don’t always get a count down just constant tone when near. Will need to replace the sensor at some point. Steve

Park on flat ground and chock wheel

Open drivers window
Park break off
Select Drive.
Engine off!

Using a long piece of wood, test each sensor
While you stand at the side of the car.

And see if one has poor range or not working.

Do I have a gap iid

When I started getting the error message on the dash for front sensors I ran my code reader and it told me offside inner, had to be an inner didn’t it!!!
