But what I don't understand is, why can't I just use the existing amp and just keep the sound system the way it is, ie send audio to the amp and I assume it distributes it to the rest of the speakers? Why do I need an extra amp? Or is this because of the fibre optic magic?

Also has anyone found a head unit that fits without having to use the facia because it looks ugly as hell with it.

The input to the amp is optic. Thats why

You would need a new head unit that can communicate to the AMP in Land Rover speak which is very specific and I’ve not heard of any manufacturer doing that. 2012 5.0 SC AB
