I had the same , along with a rattling chain, in my case it was indeed new chain as well as 32 new valves and a head overhaul.....sorry.

It may be a faulty cam position sensor, but that is me just being optimistic

I’d also expect new chains and tensioners. Mine had a new engine in 2013 so I hope it got the revised kit installed. 2012 5.0 SC AB

After trying to get quotes for the work and was told it’s to big a job
A local bmw Mercedes specialist have agreed to do the work as have half the kit needed to lock the engine
Others have said the locking kits/tools are to expensive and not worth buying
Some even said They have never heard of that happening on the that model and age on the older 4.2/4.4 but not the 5.0

So I got a fiesta for 400£ To run about in till they can do the work mid/end of February

Will update when I have more info

20 hours labour is the time quoted to do the work

Still not fixed or moved from the day it got dropped off
so moving it to another garage that’s done this job more than once

Update
Having new water pump and one injector was stuck in so waiting now for the bits hopefully Monday or Tuesday pick it up  61 AB 5.0 supercharged rocket

Just picked my car up it first went off the road on 9th December 2019
So it’s had new chains guides tensioners water pump fuel injector as it was corroded in oil and filter change
It was not easy to get the right garage to do the work but got there in the end
Cost just under 2k 61 AB 5.0 supercharged rocket

Are you sure that included new chains? That is usually a body off job. Tensioners and guides only are much easier. I know, I am currently doing it.

Yes and no need to remove the body only if the heads have to come off 61 AB 5.0 supercharged rocket
