18, 19 SVR owners, question

Hi guys,

I know that the newer SVR exhausts are quite than the previous model but when your car is in Auto Mode so not dynamic etc and at tick over when you switch the exhaust on / off, do you hear any difference?
My active exhaust seems to make no difference.

Short answer is yes. It’s not dramatic but it is different. The real differences show above either 3000 or 4000 RPM I don’t recall which. At that point the valves open and it’s entirely different.

This may help explain:

My understanding is the valve is open at cold start then closes for comfort mode. When dynamic mode is selected it opens or partialllh opens. Upon the higher revs it’s noticable.

I would have thought the same. At cold start, driving etc, switching on and off apears to make no difference at all. Guess its faulty.

The 18’s and 19’s are quieter than previous SVR’s but my 19 is loud enough for me. You’re only going to notice it at higher revs. Thumbs Up

Hi ya,

Is the a way I can test the active exhaust is working? I.e a driving mode, dynamic and switching it on / off. I had a C63S and at tick over, switching it on off, you could hear a bigg difference

Have a look down the tailpipes

With the exhausts off you should see that two of the tailpipes are blocked off. And then switch the exhausts on and these two should then open

The best way to test it is to put the exhaust on then use the paddles which you will then get the crackles and pops with the exhaust off this will not happen. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

So today on the way home from work, dynamic mode, sport, exhaust on. I drove with padels, even going down the gears coming to junctions and from inside, I never herd any pops etc. What's an easy way to force them? Can you only hear them with window open? I looked down the exhaust yesterday and ignition off, both sides flaps closed. Ignition on they where both open.

Strange big, mine makes a hell of a rackett with the paddles and exhaust on , i don't think i even put it in dynamic either.

In fact i don't even use the paddles anymore as it's just too loud. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

Re: 18, 19 SVR owners, question

Definitely get it check as it may well be a fault with the active exhaust switch.

I have as similar situation. I've had my new SVR since May 2019 picking it up direct from factory, but was never sure if I was getting the full sound from the car, even thought the noise is plenty nice for a daily driver.

As well as that, I had the feeling that heated and cooled seats were not really working well either especially compared to my previous MY16 AB. I went to my local dealer in Battersea a few months ago to compare it to one they had in stock. Kinda got fobbed off with no real investigation, so it another dealer just yesterday, who happily put it on diagnostic who confirmed fault codes with both the active exhaust switch and the heated seats.

Was not going mad!

Just waiting for an opportune time to book it in to track exactly where the fault is and fix it. Range Rover Sport SVR - Santorini Black
