Feeling the love

Doing a barn conversion and just bought a load of scaffolding on eBay, so need to pick it up. Because some of the lengths are 16-21ft and a load of 13ft boards, no way was it going into my 10*6 trailer, so hired a flatbed. I did the calculations and worked out there was 3.8t of stuff, exceeding the 7.5 tonner's capacity (3.2t) by quite a margin, so I split the load roughly 60-40 putting anything over 10ft in the flatbed and coming back in the RRS with the trailer.

Flatbed was a POS for the job - big, wide, heavy, gutless but the only way I could get the long lengths back safely. On the other hand, the RRS hardly noticed the nearly 1.5t in the back of the 0.5t trailer (rated 3.5t), drives smoothly, ample acceleration, is comfortable, reasonable fuel economy and no slowing down on hills of which there's a lot on the M4 in Wales!

End of the day, the RRS is a much more accomplished load lugger than the flatbed and I had a big smile on my face when I got home this afternoon as opposed to a grimace and aches/pains yesterday. Shame I couldn't have got the long lengths safely on...

Couldn't agree more they are certainly great tow vehicles, we have a twin axle 26ft Elddis Crusader Storm caravan used the RR last month to take it to the Lake District compared to the Hyundai Terracan I had previously it was fantastic , a much more relaxing journey & still had acceleration when needed .

Couldn’t agree more, i picked up a mates dead Disco 4 the other week for him. Puts it just under the weight limit with Brian James tri-axle trailer and it didn’t complain once. Just got on with the job in hand Thumbs Up

This makes me feel really feeble, the heaviest load I lug is a box of beer from Majestic Embarassed

Buckster, your RRS looks specced for all possibilities! The human equivalent would be wearing waders and rock climbing ropes over the top of a tuxedo whilst giving a mate a piggyback. Rolling with laughter L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

TBH don't like the style! Sorry!

Spacers, never thought about them but it makes the car's stance much more aggressive Thumbs Up

I had some of them too but couldn't find any MTs that would fit 18"s, so sold them for a profit Smile Beautiful wheel though

What sized spacer?
