Mercedes CLA 220d - nearly changed

My wife’s got a CLA for a week from work. It’s in AMG trim and a dark blue in colour. It looks bang update and got my attention when she arrived home in it. We took it for a drive today and I had a 40 mile drive in it. Initially I thought it was lovely with a decent boot space and the rear leg room was very adequate. It is auto with flappy paddles and a centre screen sticking out from the centre console with a wheel to select your way through the functions. To sum it all up very nice.

However when we got home we put the dogs in our RRS and set off. Even though our car is getting on in Years but still low mileage we both looked at each other and gestured err no. We’re fortunate enough to try different cars and my wife’s hired cars and other than a Volvo which nearly made us change, we are still keeping the RRS. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

That's a bit of a chalk and cheese comparison to say the least!

Try comparing the RRS with a GLE (especially 450 version).

I have just traded my RRS for the GLE and it is in my view better in all respects except off road capability and looks. It is quieter, more comfortable and better built/finished. The tech systems are amazing and so easy to use especially voice instruction. Hopefully it will prove more reliable than RRS (no snapping crankshafts etc!). The 'dealer' experience was exceptionally good and consistent (went to 3) unlike JLR who just dont care.

I had a new CLA 200 as a loaner while my wife’s car was being serviced, she has an A200. My wife’s 1.6 turbo A200 is gutless junk, I would rather her have a Hyundai, they ere better cars, but she likes it. The CLA 200 with the 1.3 turbo is an absolute joke. I can pedal faster on my bike.
