Buying Advice, Credit Card Required?

Hi Guys,

In the past when buying a gar, I have paid say £100 on my credit card, in case theres any issues I can get them involved.
The car I am currently working on is only a year old, direct through a main dealer and two years warrenty as standad. Does this men that there is no reason to use the credit card?

Cheers!

It's only a year old - has it done 100,000 miles? I ask as the credit card only protects if the value of the item is between £100 and £30,000 - so unless you've got a very cheap 12 month old dealer car, you won't be protected. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

Unless your'e paying with cash, the finance company you use will be your friend if your dealer refuses to sort the car out if it's a lemon (they have a financial stake in it after all). With it being from a LR dealer, well within it's warranty, you should be OK I would have thought. You would probably want to confirm that the service history is properly up to date to prevent any wriggle room in the event of you needing to make a warranty claim.
Did I miss the bit where you said it had done 100,000 miles?

Defo credit card... even a few pounds. I normally use £100 as rule of thumb, but really the protection kicks in due to the value of the good not the amount paid via credit card or HP. However, if the goods are over £30,000 then I believe it is out of scope for the consumer credit act, which is a bit of a bummer for some purchases.
