FBH Wiring & Options

Does anyone know if the standard wiring loom contains the wiring for all the extras possible?

My 2010 facelift 3.6TDV8 has the FBH Timed Operation options from the sat nav screen, but no remote facility.

I have assertained that the Webasto Telestart T90 would have been the one fitted at new, and that as this was fitted to other vehicles like VWs, are available cheaply secondhand.

I only require the option to start my heater remotly via a fob, and do not need SMS facility, but am unable to find such a device at sensible money.

Any views would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks, I have been in touch, but thought I'd ask just in case.

The 2 systems that are generally offered @ pennies under £250 + VAT are aimed more at those wanting SMS control.

Appreciate your advice.

I fitted my remote FBH functionality for a lot less than that! About £120 from memory.

Used module on eBay from a FFRR (part no 8H52-18D540-AA) was about £45. Remote was about £50 on eBay and antenna about £25 from Duckworths.

Plugged in, activated with the IID tool and paired the remote. Job done. Kev

Is it possible that everything required is in place and it's just the fob that you are missing??. I have the T91 unit fitted to mine, which is original and also the miniature fob that turns the unit off or on. Quite easy for these things to disappear during change of ownership.
When I bought my car I was given a remote for a garage door,, the guy was certain it was for the car but the giveaway was it had Horman logo on it. He still wouldn't believe me 2010 RRS, TDV8

I need to have another look in that side panel.

The Bluetooth and GSM modules are there in plain view, is your module hidden or there to see?

I'm a little confused now as I was told it was the T91 and not the T91R I needed, but all the T91s I come across state it will not fit the 2010 Sport.

I've never actually looked for the modules, I started looking into mine as the battery securing cap was missing off the remote and I didn't know if it would still work. I think I checked the serial number on the heater itself to see what's fitted then looked at the different style of remotes available which pointed to the T91 unit. Managed to download a user manual to see how it was supposed to work,, put a new battery in and hey presto.
I assumed all fbh had remotes supplied,, seems pointless not having one as to switch it on fron the navigation screen you need ignition on,,, which actually turns the fbh off.
I must admit they make a world of difference. On cold mornings without using the fbh the cold start sequence takes a little while before the engine cranks. Using the remote from in the house I can activate the heater,, the remote shows if it is active or not,, leave it ten minutes, once I press start the heater shuts down and the engine cranks immediately. 2010 RRS, TDV8

No, that certainly is not the case. The primary purpose of the FBH is to get the engine up to full operating temperature during cold conditions. Kev

When buying the remote, make sure you get one with the 'ON' button and not the heating element button.

Don't get this one:

If you look in this thread, about half way down the page you will see the guide concerning installation.

https://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic24728-45.html

To configure timed climate using the IID tool:
IIDTool Menu->Car Config->HVAC Ventilation->
Fuel Burning Heater is equal to Fitted parking heat
Timed Climate is equal to Enable

And to configure remote park heat:
IIDTool Menu->Car Config->HVAC Ventilation->
FBH Call Start is equal to Fitted radio. This is the one related to the remote.
Fuel Burning Heater is equal to Fitted parking heat
Timed Climate is equal to Enable

Part numbers you need are:
Remote module 8H52-18D540-AA
Antenna LR008654
Remote LR027493

That should be everything you need Thumbs Up Kev

Hi Kev

Got mself a Telestart and remote fob, and ordered what I thought was an antenna from Duckworths.

The latter is just an extension cable, one end beige in colour goes on the telestart, the other purple goes where?

The cable is the right length to go to the sharkfin on the roof, and there is a purple connector on it, but it already has a lead connected.

Where did your antenna go to please?

Thanks in advance, Dave

Just had a look at the thread again, it appears I didn't get the antenna suggested, will speak to Duckworths who I must say have been very helpful. 2010 3.6 TDV8 HSE (Gone)

Hi Dave, I'm sure Duckworths will swap it for the correct part for you.

Concerning the antenna location, it should be routed up and stuck on the underside of the roof.

Mine on the other hand is simply stuck on the inside of the plastic side panels in the boot. It works fine for my needs in this location ie. from inside my house when the car is on the driveway. Kev
