Evening All

I have had my RRS MY16 AB Zanzibar orange for a little under 3 months.

Lovely car and lovely colour imho.

Just noticed today a greyish spot about 3 quarter inch and a couple smaller ones next to it...thought it something stuck ..it looked grey..abit like tracing paper film whennu lift it off the surface..

Anyhows I rubbef it and to my surprise it peeled off rather like dru glue or pva might. It is on left hand side just above front wheel arch where the bumper and wing meet.

Has anyone had a similar issue?..Was thinking of putting svr bumpers and kit in next few months...is it likely to spread if left?

Checked LR paint warranty..unfortunately it only covers for 3 yrs. So is this something that can be covered and consumer act 2015?

Without seeing pics it’s hard to guess,,your car hasn’t been ppf or what ever they call it where the front gets covered to protect it by the previous owner by any chance has it. Andy.

Possibly had some paintwork after a scrape, but not done too well.

It looks to have been painted before, look at the colour difference

Looks a bit like the clear coat peeling off the base coat, could have had a previous repair as suggested.

It looks luke clear coat peelingboff to me too.

The colour diff is due to taking picture at night with flash from an angle. In day light colour looks pretty matched up

If it was in Australia I would say the clear coat is starting to break down due to high UV - it starts at one spot and spreads across the panel over a couple of years.

But you don't ever get to see the sun in the UK (you know the orange thing in the sky) very often so I would say some minor damage to the clear coat that is beginning to spread.

On a serious note..so disappointing..typicsl bloomin LR build quality

I have the same on the front bumper of my BMW - but that's 10 years older than your RRS! I assume stone chips started it for me, so maybe a small scrape on the wing on yours started it - it would only have to be deep enough to puncture the clear coat and if it hadn't adhered brilliantly from the factory..

I struggled to find anyone interested in fixing the small area on mine, unfortunately - for a proper job the whole bumper needs doing, so if you're having a kit fitted you might want to ask them to paint that and blow that area in at the same time? More likely to find someone interested in the job that way, I suspect. 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S

Very rare for factory clear to start peeling on something this new.
Definitely indicated to a previous repair.
Have your local smart repairier respray the bumper corner, it'll only be £150-200

aaronjb, Have you tried Chipsaway. The one beside me is brilliant. He has a unit where you leave the car with him. Don't use the mobile one's where they come to you

Thanks for your input fellas.

Rather than pay for ot to be fixed probably leave it as I will be putting svr front bumper after Christmas.. so will probably sell the AB bumpers.

If anyone is interested in genuine AB front and rear bumpers after Christmas feel free to drop me a msg.
