United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Santorini Black
Hybrid Plug into Mains

Hi,

Taken delivery last week of a 2019/69 2.0L Hybrid.

Went to park at Fleet station at the hook up point, the plug on the LR lead is rather elongated and would fit into the charging point. Anyone else found this?

I guess I need to find a uk to uk plug adaptor if there is such a thing.

Neil

IIRC RRS comes with only the 13 amp plug with the a transformer on the cable as standard for home charging and like many PHEVS you have to buy a 2nd cable either type2 Menkennes or CCS type (not sure which one RRS has) additional charging cable to use public chargers. You cannot just chop off the plug and wire on a new one as the outputs from the charger depends on the socket you plug into and you coul have a fire at worst or melted charging cable at least.. Also more and more charging posts now have their own tethered cables and plugs so look for one of those when charging. A 2nd type two each end charging cable for my Countryman cost £320.............. you can get them for a lot less on Amazon but I don’t know how good those are - I have heard (and it is hearsay) that it is a bit like the cables to hook up your iPhone by cable to the car - expensive original Apple cables work 100% of the time and anything else is a gamble!
I have tried to use charge points in several NCP car parks using my 13 amp cable only to find that the safety shutter on their sockets will not fully close To start the charging process because the car’s cable is a tiny bit too thick......... at least I still had the ICE to move the car and wasn’t on “Vapours” of Charge in the HV battery. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

This is my point. The socket on the 13 amp plug in the car is the wrong shape and won't allow the plug to fit snuggly, due to the molding on the waterproof LR plug. Really annoying.

I bought a 10M Type 2 charging cable for use at public charging points - see link below, no issues with the quality.
You need the 10M one to give you the option to reverse into charging spaces when it's easier to do so.

I also installed a 32A charging point at home - again bought from Amazon, this will fully charge the car in less than three hours. Again no problems so far with this unit:

If it is the cable supplied with the car by the factory that is the issue or the socket on the front grille then I would suggest a visit to a dealership for a warranty claim against a repair or replacement cable. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

If I am interpreting the original request correctly, where the JLR plug is too bulbous to fit in a regular 13a socket, then are you after one of these?

Else if it is public charging you are after, then one of these?

RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!
