Model year change.

Does anyone know when the next RRS model year change is due? Dealer keen for me to place order now for delivery in January and said I would get the latest MY.
I Suspect however I will get a 20MY which might be fine but depends on when 21MY is due to released.
Many thanks for your help.

Usually after the factory summer shutdown, I would expect MY20 to be the norm now.

MY 21 won't be for nearly a year yet. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Agree with all of this, and to add that an announcement in May could be expected, meaning all orders placed after the announcement would be delivered as MY21.

That said, a MY20.5 is not impossible, containing some minor tweak. I placed an L405 order earlier in September so I am expecting a MY20 “tail end of December”, said the dealer.

Also note, that model year changes don’t always bring benefits. If I recall MY19 (was it?) brought a £2k price hike (on the L405 which is what I follow these days) and pretty much all you got in return was Apple CarPlay as standard, so be careful what you wish for! Especially with GBP currency markets in a massive tizzy, as they are at the moment. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

In addition to what Ilard says bear in mind too that this week JLR has stated that it is abandoning its plan to become a volume producer and is instead going to go for higher profit margins which it calls making the vehicles more desirable and more premium - yeh, more premium to JLR = price rises for the customer.
Also isn’t 2021 slated to be when RRS3 is launched? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

I didn’t know that about abandoning the volume goal. But it makes sense. The fear for those attached to the brand, especially those who feel the alternatives are overall inferior, is if they push closer to Bentayga, G Wagon and even Cullinan then things are going to get a bit crazy.

At the moment the pricing space between Ewok, Velgash, RRS and the full fat is a wee bit too close. I think that spells big price hikes for next gen fatty and Sport models. In fact, this is one reasoning I had for placing an L405 order now. For the L460 model (MY2022?), guessing, add 20%+ to that and no discount, so you’re immediately paying a 25% to 30% premium. Given that what I am paying after discount is my top wack I am logically priced out of the equivalent L460. Hence my order now for an ‘end of line’ fatty. As Mrs iLard eloquently (?) put it, keep a new XC90 for 10 years, you have a 10 year old car. But keep a Range Rover for 10 years and you have a Range Rover.

Footnote: I’m
Not expecting new RRS until MY23. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!
