More excitement for me today when I found the very much hidden rear cup holders!!!! I thought it strange there was no provision for it in the back but then found the little recessed handle in the rear of the centre console - ta da! Slide out cup holders - brilliant!

Wonder how many people don’t realise they are there??

“You will never regret it” - still waiting for your first repair bill?! Rolling with laughter

On hols in Austria in the summer, we hired a brand new Audi A6 50TDi which was a brilliant car. Attractive, comfortable and very very rapid. But came back to Heathrow and climbed up inside the RRS and there was simply no contest. I think that’s the Range Rover feeling. And by comparison, a 9 year old Audi A6? That’s about as special as yesterday’s uneaten toast. No thanks. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

So I fitted some new dealer plates today which look great, an oversized regular shaped plate on the back is just the job. Also had a fiddle with the luggage cover as it was rattling quite a lot, couple of bits of it appear to have come apart so realigned them and will see if that improves matters.

Tomorrow is MOT day - don't envisage any horror stories with that, beforehand it’s into the local GTechniq detailer for a winter spruce (pics of results to follow of course). Then next week it is off to T&S Norman in Shepton Mallet for its 9 year intermediate service.

Keep you posted on developments, bit so far it’s fair to say EVERYONE loves this car even friends who don’t ‘get’ 4x4’s!!!!

Straight through MOT this morning no issues at all which is great, mechanic very complimentary about the condition of the car. It also had a Winter protection clean, back in a few weeks for a full Winter Protection Detail which should set me up for grit and muck through the winter.

It’s off to T&S Norman next Thurs for its 9 year service so fingers crossed that goes smoothly, then it’s ready for its family Christmas duties Thumbs Up

That is one sweet ride! Thumbs Up What a great setting to take photos. And the number plates look so much better. I'm glad the MOT met expectations, so presumably the service next week will be very routine. (Hint you never know until it's done!)

Are you splurging on a Gtechniq protection package?

I really hope it snows like hell where you are so you can be super smug, because I never had a problem in the snow. My road is kinda steep (for London) and it amused and pained me to see people struggling on the hill. One time a driver of an inferior 4x4 vehicle (I can't remember what, but something new, small, and vulgar) succumbed to the fact he could not get up the hill, and decided ambitiously to do a 3 (or maybe 20) point turn to return back down, but in doing so was haplessly sliding closer and closer to parked cars. He finally knocked my door and asked if I could move to vacate precious centimetres that would enable him to complete his twenty point turn. I was almost embarrassed to simply drive off up the hill as if it were a summer's day. Rolling with laughter It looks like you're showing off, but I was just driving, is all! L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

Thank you for your kind words Wink it looks cracking, colour really does change depending on the light. Yes the MOT was fine, tester complimentary about the car - as are most to be fair. The service I hope will be routine but like you say you never know.....will update when it’s done.

It may undergo the full G Techniq to afford it some protection through the winter and beyond, we’ll see a couple of friends have had it done (911 and Alfa 4C) and the results are impressive.

Weather is starting to turn down here, had a few sleety days already and last week has some unexpected snow so potentially it will be a hard winter and the RR will come into its own.

So it was 9 year service time today, I took it to T & S Norman in Shepton Mallet - will write a separate thread on these wonderful people.

It flew through, no issues identified which I kind of suspected. They swapped my wheels front > back to keep the wear even, one of the sheer nuts had ‘swollen’ so was replaced, key fob battery replaced and other than that it’s all good. They have suggested perhaps a Waxoyl next Spring paying particular attention to ACE pipes so that’s something to ponder over the winter months.

It was washed outside, mats cleaned and gleaming for me on collection - excellent service.

Steve Norman is a great guy Thumbs Up

When my engine spun a bearing he took the time to have a lengthy phone call with me talking about the ins and outs of the 3.0 TDV6, providing several recommendations and giving me lots of food for thought. Kev

You're very lucky to have a good indie. Pay him well! All this flying through MOTs and no serving issues is making me think your car is going to last FOREVER.

I reckon a Waxoyl type treatment is an excellent idea, especially if you're planning on keeping the car for a while/forever.

In the end, I also went for the oversized number plate on my new one, which is standard fit. I was going to ask for a regular sized one but my wife overruled me! She said the proportions are better on a large tailgate. Thumbs Up L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
