Cloned Key/kvm replacement under warranty?

Hi all,

My car was stolen last night snd recovered within an hour thanks to tracking. I’m now being told that the kvm and keys need replacing as they are compromised.

Given the car is under 3 years old can i have it under warranty? It seems a fault of the system that not only is hackable but also becomes unusable after being hacked!

I welcome your thoughts on the matter.

Chhers

Did they break a window? Or get in the vehicle somehow?

I ask as if it was via the OBD, they programmed a new key so everything should work as it should, it just means someone has a key (or was it recovered?) and could take it again. If they piggybacked your key from the house then again the vehicle should be useable but there could be another key out there that will start your car. 2012 5.0 SC AB

The KVM is compromised, and will only happen again

The new modules are read only, meaning once the key programming is completed and finalised, no new keys can be added to the car (in theory, at least) Good against car thieves, not so good if you happen to lose a new key...

Its not a warranty issue, but I'd expect your insurance to cover the bill, having been victim of theft, after all...

DM, when you say compromised, do you mean it won’t work at all, or that it will work with the original keys but as the key code is out there, anyone with the code could access the car?

If it’s down to the KVM software, are we all at the same risk? I keep my keys in a faraday pouch and hoped that would be enough. Are the new KVMs retro installable to the L320? 2012 5.0 SC AB
